The help info on Containers stops abruptly so I can't figure it out.

I have a map that I have added lines representing roads. I want to move those lines to their own Container so I can change them all at the same time. How do I move (or copy) Objects (Lines, for example) from one Container to another.

I want to be able to show or hide some items as well. For example, the road lines. Can I do that with Containers or is Layers the right tool to use?

Thanks :-)

Hi you can - layer on ShareMap is always raster layer (so for example scanned paper map calibrated to fit on ShareMap backgrounds).

Cointainer is like you defined - place where other components can be stored. Each container can be describred if it should appear on static (SVG), interactive or on both type of maps.

You can easily move components (lines, points) between containers in two ways

1. By using drag-and-drop - on layers tree drag component and drop it on some other container. Other container have to be in open state even if it is empty (arrow should points bottom) in other case moved component will be placed in parent container under selected one.

2. By using copy-cut-paste - on over selected component click right mouse button (either on map or components tree) and choose CUT on components tree click RMB on destination component and select PASTE - your component should be now in other container.

If you need more assistance let know, I will try to record screencast of these functions and publish it on ShareMap YouTube channel.
