I've completed a map of the Prince Edward Island Railway, which is an easy one because today most of it is a trail.

To finish it off, I need to connect several short line segments into one larger one. They're shorter because I had to switch backgrounds in the middle of editing.

So is there a way to connect smaller lines into one larger one?

Of course you can join two smaller lines to larger one, the only requirement that they have to be in same container.

In this case use Line Join tool [1] and click on ends of line you would like to join.

Ahh, after much playing I got it to work.

I suggest updating the instructions…

"Click to select one of the two lines you wish to join together. Now click the Join Lines button in the toolbar. The cursor will change to a crosshair, and a new line segment will be drawn between the last point on line one and the position of the cursor. Click on the second line and a new line segment will be drawn, connecting the two lines together."

What happens to any notes or such when you do this?
