I've created a map of Jephson Gardens in Leamington Spa, UK http://sharemap.org/hellocatfood/Jephson_Gardens

I want to export an editable SVG of the map. In the tools menu I've selected Export to Wikimedia Commons and saved the SVG file. However, when I open it in Inkscape the resultant file is a collection of embedded raster tiles which can't be edited.

Is there a way using Sharemap to save an SVG file that has editable vector data?

Hi, hellocatfood - the typical map generated with export tool contains two layers - background layer with OSM tiles embeded which contains just raster images and vector layer that contains shapes created by you and can be edited in Inkscape - let me know what you would like to achieve.

Hi, hellocatfood - ShareMap that no have this feature directly but you can take 3 ways:

1. Import some OSM data to ShareMap map as vectors and then it will be available in SVG export
2. You can also export SVG from OSM directly using - http://www.openstreetmap.org/export, but this SVG will not be easy for being modified in Inkscape
3. You can use TileMill to get more friendly SVG exports - https://www.mapbox.com/tilemill/

You can use BBCode in your post
