Greetings to all from a newbie.
I am trying to determine if ShareMap is appropriate for my task.
It seems that the first thing to do to start to create a map is to select a Background, and I have looked at the options available.
My map is to be of the Greater Houston Texas area, and having a base map with the county boundaries clearly displayed at all zooms is essential.
Map content will consist mostly of major highways.
This is all new to me, and I am confused.
What is the best way for me to proceed?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi, thanks for question

You have two options depends on effect you want to achieve

* You can use solid color background and create all your shapes using line/marker tool
* You can use OSM or other free (CC-SA) background, tweak it color transformation (ie. to grayscale, increase lightness or opacity) to increase your map readybility.

Here you have examples of this two approaches

* http://sharemap.org/jkan/railway/Railways_in_Sudan
* http://sharemap.org/public/Los_Angeles_Pacific_Electric_Railways_%28Red_Cars%29

You can use BBCode in your post
